BMW Launches it's new R1200 range, including the R1200GS, R1200GS Adventure and R1200RT
“Class leading” is a phrase that could have been designed purely with the R1200GS in mind. Since 2004 this versatile BMW adventure-sport machine has led the field in its category. Combining low weight, comfort, dynamic handling and performance and an uncanny ability to take all number of individual requirements and applications in its globe-conquering stride. Whether it’s the daily commute, a quick jaunt on a Sunday morning, blowing the cobwebs off with a blast to the coast or mile munching all the way to Morocco, the big GS really does fit the bill.
To come very soon with a HP2 derived Double Over-Head Cam powerplant, producing 110bhp, but with a higher rev ceiling, improved bottom end torque and mid range flexibility, the 2010 R1200GS has just had its cherry put on top. As with the previous model, the factory fit options include Traction Control, ABS, Tyre Pressure Sensors, Electronic Suspension Adjustment and the much-appreciated Heated Grips to name but a few. Model specific Luggage, Satellite Navigation mounts, Akropovic Exhausts and a whole host of accessories to personalise your R1200GS are available within store.
For those with intentions of emulating Ewan and Charlie, the GS’s bigger and more rugged brother will get the same treatment at the factory. This new engine promises to give the R1200GS Adventure a more refined and smoother power delivery which is perfect for those of you who will be cruising across the continent taking advantage of the GSA’s massive 33 litre tank and long distance comfort. New colours will adorn both variations of the GS for 2010, a striking Yellow and a cool Smoke Grey are the choice for the GSA, and you can pick between a Fashionable White, Bold Red, or how about Sapphire Black or a slightly different Matt Metallic Grey for the R1200GS. The choice is yours.
Prices start at £9925 for the R1200GS and £10745 for the Adventure and both bikes are available for purchase on the fantastic BMW Select scheme.
