Jim will be available between 12:00 and 14:00 for those wishing to discuss improving their riding, and you can also book an initial assessment ride following your chat with him.

Kirssi on the podium again!

The 66th edition of the EICMA motorcycle exhibition ended last weekend, with more than 500,000 visitors attending the two-wheeled show that took place at the Milan exhibition centre. Part of the many exhibitions on offer was the unique MotoLive show – a four-day entertainment extravaganza held in a massive 80,000 square metres area, with a wide choice of motorsport action to see, including stunt riding, races and special displays, including minibikes, supermoto, quad racing, trials, motocross, drag racing, MX freestyle and enduro.

In Moscow there is a bikers’ association which organises interesting trips to problem areas like Chechnya or Chernobyl, in order to bring renewed press attention to the situation there as well as meet local government officials and take some charitable donations or presents to people living there.

A Canadian African adventure

Two ladies from Quebec have successfully completed the six-day Trophée Roses des Sables rally through Morocco, riding BMW Motorrad’s G 450 X sport enduro. Out of more than 100 participants making up 54 teams of 4x4 vehicles and buggies, they were the only two motorcycle entrants, yet managed to finish in a fantastic 27th place overall.

Pavey does the Dakar

BMW Off-Road Skills chief instructor Simon Pavey will be competing in the 2009 Dakar Rally on a G 650 Xchallenge. The 41-year-old Australian, who runs BMW Motorrad UK’s off-road school in the UK, will be joining this legendary rally event that is being held in South America for the first time.

G 450 X slides to success

The G 450 X success story continues, but this time, it has nothing to do with the Enduro World Championship, cross-country racing, or even ‘extreme’ hard enduro. The latest success was achieved in the German Supermoto Championship, where a young rider called Fabian Bachmann rode a modified BMW G 450 X to two podium places last weekend.

Nate the Champion

American BMW rider Nate Kern has had a superlative 2008 racing season. During the weekend of 6-7 September at Summit Point Motorsports Park racetrack in West Virginia, Kern cemented his tremendous showing throughout the season by grabbing the National ASRA CCS Pro Thunderbike Championship on his proven BMW R 1200 S race motorcycle.

Enduro legend assigned to BMW

Earlier this year, seven-times World Enduro Champion Kari Tiainen became part of the official BMW Motorrad Motorsport team set-up. The 41-year-old Finnish off-road superstar is helping with the testing and development of the new G 450 X, as well as assisting in the training and coaching of the BMW Motorrad factory riders.

Another win for BMW at the Dark Dog Tour

Local rider Fred Lejeune has won the Belgian Dark Dog Tour (BDDT) for the second time in a row on his BMW HP2 Megamoto. After he won last year’s first ever Belgian Moto Tour event – and ended the year second overall in the 2007 International Rally Championship (IRC) – the BMW Motorrad dealer returned to make it two wins out of two in the BDDT.
