Dates: 6 nights - Thursday 4th July – Wednesday 10th July.
Flights: Ryanair Manchester/Milan Bergamo - 4th July 2019 07:00-10:15H FR3216
Overview: Motorcycles and luggage are shipped to Milan Italy on Thu/Fri 27-28 June and the group fly out to Milan Bergamo on the following Thursday 4th July to start the tour. The duration of this year’s AlpineHop Tour has been extended by an extra day, starting out on the Thursday rather than the Friday, due to unavailability of flights on the Friday and due to our desire to ride additional high mountain passes.
Day 1 – Thursday 4th July 2019 Our flight arrives at Orio al Serio, Milan/Bergamo Airport, at 10:15H where our coach will be waiting to take us to the motorcycle depot around 35 miles away. Our hotel for the first night is right at the far northern end of the Stelvio Pass in Trafoi.
Day 2 – Friday 5th July Arriving one day earlier than in previous years we can explore the mountainous region out to the east, the South Tyrol, particularly the Timmelsjoch Pass, a 2474M high ribbon slicing through the Otztal Alps between Italy and Austria. We then circle around to join the same route that we rode over the last few years through Switzerland, our hotel for the night is in Zernez.
Day 3 – Saturday 6th July We have 6 high passes to tick off the list today as we zigzag west starting with the Fluela Pass and ending with the Furka Pass, with 4 passes in between, the Abula, Julier, San Bernadino and Tremola Passes – it should be an epic day! Our hotel for the night is in Oberwald.
Day 4 – Sunday 7th July 3 more high passes to traverse today; the Grimsel, Susten and Klausen Passes before we ride due north, avoiding the motorways so we don’t need a Swiss Vignette Pass, skirting Urner See and Zugersee, then bypassing Brugg and Koblenz, to arrive at our next overnight hotel stop in Titisee-Neustadt.
Day 5 – Monday 8th July A few kilometres from the hotel we join the famous B500, the Schwartzwald Hochstrasse, thought by many to be the best motorcycling road in the World. We ride north through the Black Forest as far Baden Baden before turning west crossing the Vosges and Lorraine National Parks and ending our day at our hotel in Heudicourt-sous-les-Cotes on the banks of Lake Madine.
Day 6 – Tuesday 9th July Quite a long ride today, aiming to reach the ferry in Zeebrugge by latest 5.00 pm 2 hours before she sails at 7.00 pm. We will take a short detour to visit the First World War Memorial Site Douaumont near Verdun to pay our respect to the million allied troops who laid down their lives near here in the Great War only 100 years ago.
Day 7 – Wednesday 10th July The ferry arrives back in Hull around 08.30H and this is where we say goodbye and head off in separate directions – safe journey home everyone, see you next time!
Approx total: 1030 miles.
In addition, if you drop your motorcycle off here at Allan Jefferies the weekend before the tour, we will carry out any required servicing work / tyre renewal etc… then your motorcycle will undergo a free health check to give you peace of mind whilst on your tour.
