Northwest 200 Road Race and Irish Wild Atlantic Way Taster16.05.2019
NORTHWEST 200 ROAD RACE AND IRISH WILD ATLANTIC WAY TASTER
Dates: 5 nights - Thursday 16th May until Tuesday 21st May
Thursday 16th May The group will meet at the Stena Line, 12 Quays Terminal in Birkenhead for the 22:30H sailing, the check-in closes 60 minutes before embarkation so we will aim to arrive by 21:00H. Cabins have been booked for the crossing but no meals are provided as we reasoned that you would have eaten by the time you arrive on board – but not to worry the bar will be open!
Friday 17th May Arriving in Belfast Harbour at 06:30H we have an ‘options’ day, you can either join us on a ride-out hugging the Irish Sea coast to the Giants Causeway for lunch, returning back to Belfast in the afternoon. Or, you could park up and have a day’s sightseeing around Belfast – it is a wonderful city. We will re-group at 19:00H for an evening in the city – if you haven’t visited Belfast before you are in for a treat, it is a city that is breathing a metaphorical sigh of relief after so many years of trouble and you would struggle to have a friendlier and more fun night out. We’ll be saying at the Titanic Hotel and a visit to the museum next door always goes down well.
Saturday 18th May We make an early 08:30h start today, so I hope you didn’t have too much Guinness last night…. We ride the 60 miles or so to Portstewart arriving around 10:00H. The tour includes a North West 200 VIP Hospitality Package; Reserved parking at a local restaurant near to the York Corner Stand, Ulster Fry Breakfast, Buffet Lunch, Stand Seats in the York Corner Stand, Paddock Pass and Race Programme. After the race we ride to Derry for our next overnight stay.
Sunday 19th May A leisurely 09:00H start today as we ride to the historic County Mayo town of Westport, its only 150 miles but instead of following the most direct route we will hug the coast for much of the day following the Wild Atlantic Way – it will be spectacular with plenty of coffee stops along the way. Monday 20th May After our Full Irish Breakfast, we have yet another tardy start today leaving the hotel at 09:00H and riding south via Galway to out next overnight stay in Limerick. Again, we continue following the Wild Atlantic Way as it snakes its way around the coast heading south. The whole Wild Atlantic Way stretches over 2500 km, all the way from Muff near Derry in the north to Kinsale south of Cork in the south. We may come back in 2020 and ride the whole thing, that’s an awful lot of petrol and almost as much Guinness/Murphy’s, best start saving up!
Tuesday 21st May A 09:00H start this morning as we set out to ride cross-country towards Dublin and our ferry home. We must arrive quayside by 13:00H to catch the 14:30H sailing which arrives in Holyhead at 18:20H. Following the fastest motorway route everyone can now head for home, or you could consider a night in Anglesey and a more leisurely ride home the following morning. We have approached a local pub/hotel near the quay and we can book a bed, breakfast and evening meal for you if required which would be a nice end to the tour, but this isn’t included in the package price.
Approx total: 1320 miles.
In addition, if you drop your motorcycle off here at Allan Jefferies the weekend before the tour, we will carry out any required servicing work / tyre renewal etc… then your motorcycle will undergo a free health check to give you peace of mind whilst on your tour. Your motorcycle and luggage will then be transported to the shipping depot and return back upon it return. All this for a total cost of £75.00* each way.
